United States Army First Lieutenant • Line of Duty Death: November 3, 2011

United States Army First Lieutenant Dustin Dale Vincent tragically lost his life on November 3, 2011. During Operation New Dawn in Iraq, he sustained a gunshot wound while repairing a cable on a vehicle during a patrol mission.

Vincent began his military journey in junior high school by joining the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), continuing through all four years of high school and entering the officer training program as soon as he was eligible. While attending the University of Texas at Arlington, he remained active in the ROTC program and was proudly commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in May of 2008. Vincent had a deep love and respect for his Papa, Bill, who had also served in the military and was a devoted pastor. Inspired by his example, Vincent followed in his footsteps with pride, embracing a life of service and leadership.

An extraordinary person, Vincent was steadfast, selfless, and deeply committed to everything he did. He was the kind of man who toed the line without complaint, often staying late, stepping in wherever he was needed, and always going above and beyond what was expected. For him, it was never just a job—it was a calling. He poured his heart into his work with unwavering passion and purpose. Throughout his military career, his dedication and bravery were recognized with numerous honors, including the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Action Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Army Service Ribbon.

In middle school, Vincent met his future wife, Samantha, when his infectious smile caught her eye. They quickly bonded over their shared love of Dr. Pepper, both trying to get a bottle from the vending machine before the bell rang for the next period. That simple moment of connection marked the beginning of a love that would grow stronger with each passing year. Some of Samantha’s favorite memories include the day Vincent proposed and the joy of their wedding day, moments that marked the beginning of a beautiful life together.

Vincent was a man of great faith and patriotism who tragically passed away while performing a task outside his responsibilities. Known for his exceptional kindness and selfless dedication to others, he profoundly impacted many, leading them to Christianity. Above all, he gave his wife a deep and true love and together, they had two beautiful daughters. Samantha and their daughters honor Vincent’s memory daily by lighting a candle, regularly visiting his grave, and celebrating his birthday each year. They are committed to commemorating the anniversary of his passing as a celebration of his life and will forever cherish and remember his sacrifice for the nation.

United States Army First Lieutenant Dustin Dale Vincent is survived by his loving wife, Samantha and their beautiful daughters.
