The Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Institute™ is our September 11, 2001 education program. It is the go-to resource for educators of all types to get the non-fiction, first-person resources they need to teach children across the country about the extraordinary heroism and goodness of everyday people who inspired our nation and demonstrated the strength and resilience of America’s spirit.

 

9/11 CURRICULUM

The Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Institute™ offers full curriculum units for teachers. All units have been developed by educators within the 9/11 community, are based on non-fiction, true accounts of the day and include social studies lessons, learning activities and background for instructors to ensure ease of implementation.

DISCOVERING HEROES® BOOK SERIES

The Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Institute™ is offering the age-appropriate, non-fiction trilogy the Discovering Heroes® series, written by Kristie Kiernan Bouryal. The series focuses on real events and people who experienced 9/11 to increase awareness to America’s darkest day and everyday heroes. The books are intended for kids of all ages but especially young readers ages 7 to 11. The books are exclusively distributed through the Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Institute™ and are being offered to schools and non-profit organizations at prices deeply discounted from retail pricing.

 

9/11 SPEAKERS BUREAU

The Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Institute™ is committed to sharing the real-life accounts of people who experienced 9/11 first-hand. From 9/11 survivors to first responders, family members of the fallen and witnesses, their stories retell history in relevant, emotive ways that will remain ingrained in the memories of future generations for decades to come.

To honor the lives lost on 9/11, the Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Institute™ provides America the opportunity to engage with witnesses to our nation’s history to learn about the day through their personal stories.

 

9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit

The 9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit is a tribute to all who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, including the 343 members of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) who made the ultimate sacrifice, and all who continue to lose their lives to 9/11-related illnesses. This high-tech, 83-foot tractor-trailer, which transforms into an 1,100 square foot exhibit, is a tool to further educate people across the country about the events of that tragic day. The 9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit has traveled to nearly 50 states and Canada.

 

Russell F. Siller Memorial Scholarships

Russell F. Siller was an educator for fifty years who believed in encouraging leadership, inspiring others, the importance of education and living a life of service. The Russell F. Siller Memorial Scholarships strive to honor his memory by finding passionate individuals who share in Russell’s love of education and selflessness.
The scholarship seeks to award the children of recipients of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s In the Line of Duty Home Program who are doing good. Applicants chosen will demonstrate that they are contributing their time and effort to making a difference by spreading awareness to a community-based issue.

MOBILE EXHIBIT ESSAY CONTEST

It is with great pleasure that the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, in partnership with the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education, announces the winner of the inaugural 9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit Essay Contest.

 

Since its inception in 2001, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation has honored and paid tribute to the 2,977 innocent souls who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, including the heroism of first responders who gave their lives protecting others, and those who continue to lose their lives from 9/11-related illnesses. Our longstanding commitment to helping America to Never Forget has never wavered.
